In love...with a doughnut

I think I'm in love...with the chocolate cake/candy cane doughnut from Tim Horton's. Thanks Kelly for getting me addicted. I didn't even know they existed until our potluck on Friday. And yes, it was me who ate the stale one at work on Sunday afternoon.

Beautiful music

It's a restful Sunday afternoon and I'm listening to violinist Itzhak Perlman play Meditation from Thais, a beautiful, haunting melody that I just have to include in this post for you to listen to. Here's violinist Sarah Chang with the Berlin Philharmonica Orchestra, conducted (interestingly) by Placido Domingo.

I was looking through the stack of printing samples from recent customer orders and I noticed a trend of clients using photographs on their plantable postcards, business cards and invitations. The results are excellent as shown below in these samples. Are there any limitations? We tested some birth announcements with photos printed directly on the paper, and the placement of the seed can sometimes look like blemishes on a cheek or forehead, so we tend to steer clients away from using close-up pictures of people.

But I guess you could say that good design and plantable paper make beautiful music together to produce better-than-imagined, synergistic results.

 

Wrapping up the week

It's been a great week at Botanical PaperWorks with the new arrival Erin who joins the Customer Care team. If you call during our office hours, chances are, you'll get to speak with Erin!

In addition to getting right into the details of helping customers, Erin had the chance to work in each department. Here's a photo of her doing her cross-training today in the Assembly department.

Did you read the lively discussion from yesterday's blog posting about the new Bond movie? You'll want to get your two cents in on Daniel Craig vs. Pierce Brosnan. Evidently, people hold some STRONG opinions! :)

Here I am!

Hello there! I've been a little quiet on the blogging front lately for a number of reasons, some interesting and others not so much: technical issues with my home computer (home is Blogging Central for me), working on several new, fabulous stationery collections and balancing all that with caring for kids with strep throat.

I've been putting Twitter on and off the blog all week, trying to fix some technical glitches. If you're finding that this blog is loading slowly, would you email me? I don't want to compromise the Stationery Scoop experience with slow-loading Twitter.

We had a fast-paced, butt-kicking day yesterday with renowned speaker Jeffrey Gitomer. Got my Little Red Book of Sales signed, and even had a chance to chat with Mr. Gitomer and get a photo taken. Here I am, along with Marketing Manager Petra McGowan:

Yesterday, I ploughed through 145 blog posts; yes, I was a little behind. Today....this is so exciting....I'm spending the day in a seminar with Jeffrey Gitomer. It's not often that we get speakers of this calibre in our home town of Winnipeg, so it's a treat to not have to get on a airplane and travel a bazillion hours to get to a stinky conference center. I'm bringing my copy of the Little Red Book of Selling to get autographed, and will even try to get a photo with him. We'll see. Hope you have a great day!
