Waiting on a Saturday night

Hey there! It's Saturday night around 10 pm, and I've been hanging out at the Urgent Care facility here in Winnipeg (imagine one-step down from an emergency room, one step up from a walk-in clinic). I'm into hour five now of waiting to see a doctor. My foot has been x-rayed and I'm 90% certain that my pinky toe is broken. I'll be happy when I can get out of here, but in the meantime, thank goodness for a laptop and free WiFi to get me through this.

Driving to Capturing Opportunities

It was a clear, warmish drive out to Brandon today. But look at the flooding! At one point, there was water on either side of the hightway (see above).
At another point, a truck pulled by me and I heard the strangest noise. I could have sworn it was pig snorting, and when I looked...it WAS pig snorting. Through the bars, I could see dozens of piggy snouts and eyes looking back at me.

Happy Earth Day to you!

Over the last couple of weeks and months, we've been printing up a storm of plantable coasters, hand-outs and posters, all for companies like Honda and Starbucks to handout on Earth Day. Sweet Love plantable wedding favors

All this week, I am featuring the new line of plantable wedding favors from Botanical PaperWorks. The collection shown above is called Sweet Love and is shown above in brights and is also available in pastels.

I love how the cake is plantable, meaning that you can remove the paper from the cardstock, plant it in soil in a pot, water well and soon wildflowers will grow right out of the paper. I've given out plantable favors at many occasions (fundraisers, parties, funerals) and guests always remark on how lovely it is to receive a lasting, blooming memento of the day.

New plantable wedding favors

I love this drawing, created by very young friend at ballet class on Saturday. My eldest daughter and I were watching our youngest in ballet class, and this little friend came over and asked to draw with us. She made the squiggles and the letters, and arranged the pens just so. It was a lovely, unbridled creative moment.
   
Speaking of creative, Botanical PaperWorks has just launched a new line of plantable wedding favors. Colorful, stylish and eco-friendly, each favor grows wildflowers when the 100% post-consumer waste + seed paper is planted in a pot of soil. The fine-grade cardstock onto which the plantable paper is affixed is made at a mill that runs on hyroelectric power and returns the effluent/waste water to the river CLEANER than it came in. Pleased & cheese

So we were pretty stoked yesterday about the Wall Street Journal article featuring Botanical PaperWorks. Petra and I celebrated with a Starbucks and Priscilla took this picture of us with the newspaper.
It's Friday and tomorrow, John and I are hosting our monthly potluck group at our house. Last weekend was National Cheese Fondue Day, so we're having two fondues - a traditional Gruyere and Emmenthaller cheese fondue and this German Cheddar and Beer Fondue. Friends...come ready to eat. It's going to be good!
