Check it out - I met up with some of the girls from the class of '89 at SMA last Friday night. While I didn't get to see any of the ladies from Friday's post, it was GREAT to see Melissa, Christina, Iris, Irene, Clarissa, Jenny, Katie and many more.
Similar to the uniforms that we wore, but different!
Thanks to the internet, keeping in touch is easier than ever, so I'm looking forward to staying in touch between now and the next 10 years!

It's time for that rite of passage - my high school reunion. Wine and cheese in the school cafeteria this evening. I'll go and see who shows up and have a good time. I found my 10-year reunion very cathartic, so maybe this will have the same effect. Twenty years is enough time for each of us to have faced some serious life challenges and either embraced or ignored the opportunity for growth.

This is an actual scene from my family's cottage; I took it with my Nikon digital SLR camera just as the sun was setting and our neighbours were catching some late-summer fish. Isn't the sunset breathtaking?
The last couple of weeks have been full of exciting, interesting and challenging moments, and sometimes I need to take a mental break from all of the activity. When I get to that point, I stare at this picture and take a deep breath. Ahhhh.
Last Sunday, my girls were at the kitchen table drawing and crafting. They invited me to join them. Actually, they pretty much begged me. I resisted at first, then thought "Oh lump it - if I can't have fun now, when can I?!". So I put down whatever it was I was doing, grabbed the oil pastels from the art class that I took this summer and sat down at the table.
My kids had already pulled a few items to make a scene for us to draw - a lime, an apple and a glass jar of brown sugar. We had fun creating and time flew by without notice. At times, we chatted and at times, we were quiet. It was fun and comfortable. The perfect Sunday morning. We should do it again this weekend. What are you doing this weekend to recharge?

In my post yesterday, I mentioned the DIY Pillow Box project that is available on the Botanical PaperWorks website. There is a downloadable project sheet with template and instructions, and in the above photo, we've used plantable eco-paper in an assortment of colors.
Pillow boxes are great for party favors, and when I use them, my goal is to stuff them with items that will surprise and delight the recipient. Here are some examples of what you could put inside:
The possibilities are endless, and the great thing is that after the party is over, the pillow box can be planted to grow wildflowers. So the packaging is both eco-friendly and a great memento of the special day.

I fell in love with the game of dominoes this past weekend and played game after game with my parents, my sister-in-law Toni and my kids. I LOVE these colorful tiles; makes the game more fun. And interestingly, the game of dominoes dates as far back as 1120 AD; wikipedia has a historical overview here.
Today, I am attending a seminar at the Hotel Fort Garry with other Winnipeg business people. It's always great to connect at these kinds of events.
