We ate up the last of the garden tomatoes this weekend. Doesn't the photo above capture the juiciness of home-grown produce? I grabbed my camera and snapped this pic and then made the most delicious toasted tomato sandwich.
Some little packages of paper products are going out today to our Thanksgiving commentators. To the lucky recipients - use the products to get a head start on Christmas and the holidays. It always feels good to be organized and ready!
Speaking of getting organized...have you thought about Christmas cards and party favors? Check out these plantable ones, each made with 100% post-consumer waste and embedded with wildflower seeds and spruce tree seeds. The designs are eco-fabulous!

I put the last of our garden tomatoes on a pizza last night. It was sad to see them go because they were so delicious!
Thank you SO much for the holiday card set for my thanksgiving post. I can't tell you how excited I was to get them! I'm looking forward to picking 8 lucky recipients to send them to. Thanks again!

There is nothing better than toasted tomato sandwiches from the garden (well, maybe add some bacon on that sandwich and it gets a little better).

Mmmmm...bacon makes everything better! Did you see this recipe for bacon-chocolate-chip cookies? http://www.ediblecommunities.com/vancouver/Desserts-Sweets/bacon-chocolate-chip-cookies.htm No pictures, unfortunately, but I found a lot of good pics on Flickr.

Are you going to try the bacon chocolate chip cookies? If you do, I want a taste test. If you don't make them, maybe I'll give them a try just to say I made them.

Really? Bacon choclate chip? Let me know how that goes. I've made my last batch of pasta sauce. Who knew roma's could be so prolific?

Kara - I don't know if I'm going to try the bacon chocolate chip cookies. It seems to me like something that is better left untasted, however I must admit that I'm curious! Heidi

Hi Mavis - did you find that certain varieties of tomatoes grew better than others? My Early Girl tomatoes grew like weeds but the Beefsteak yielded almost nothing. I was thinking it had to do with the abundance of rain this summer. Heidi

Absolutely. I also found that where I planted them really affected the growth as well. Usually I have a ton of success with tomatoes in pots but this year only my yellow cherry tomatoes (which were AWESOME) did well in the pots. My two garden planted Roma's were out of control but the one in pots did almost nothing. And I have yet to figure out how to get a tomatillo to bear fruit. Tons of flowers and not a single fruit. Maybe it was a bad year to try those - or maybe I needed two plants. And let me tell you about the zucchini. I don't have enough recipes to deal with the shredded zucchini I have in the freezer.
