Celebrating 40

Last week, my siblings and I took my parents out for dinner to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. It was a lovely dinner, just the eight of us, and a wonderful chance to celebrate my parents and this important and very special milestone.

We prepared a memory box of notes, pictures and drawings and gave it to them that evening.

The food at Chez Sophie was so-o-o delicious!

I loved their simple presentation of the soup course.

I'm going to have to go back to Chez Sophie to try their quiche and the pizzas. And the prices were really reasonable. Anyone else been there?

Company Potluck

It was a company-wide potluck yesterday, with the theme of Finger Food. Only food that could be eaten with your fingers allowed. There was quite an array, from cream puffs to devilled eggs to cupcakes. Here are some pics.


I'm a big cupcake fan and often check in on the blog Cupcakes Take the Cake. The next recipe on my list to try is the Chocolate-Mint cupcake recipe from Martha Stewart. Maybe a good weekend project....

In love...with a doughnut

I think I'm in love...with the chocolate cake/candy cane doughnut from Tim Horton's. Thanks Kelly for getting me addicted. I didn't even know they existed until our potluck on Friday. And yes, it was me who ate the stale one at work on Sunday afternoon.

Monday made it

Yum. Summer is the best time for fresh produce, that goes without saying.

Also fresh and yummy are the new Yummy Cards. Plant one and grow herbs, then make the recipe on the back of the card. Tasty!
