St. Patrick's Day is all about green, right? In our family, we celebrate our Irish heritage each year by wearing green, eating green food and shouting out Erin Go Bragh at unexpected moments (props to you if you manage to startle a fellow family member!).
This March 17, we're going to have a truly green St. Patrick's Day by doing some eco-friendly deeds as a family. My kids and I have started brainstorming on what we can do and some of the ideas so far include:
- Picking up garbage outside, which is badly needed after a long winter
- Making our St. Patrick's Day meal from locally-grown ingredients
- Getting our compost bin ready for summer use
St. Patrick's Day is still four weeks away, so there's lots of time to pull together our plans. What are you planning? Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day, maybe with shamrock-shaped cookies or a pint at a favorite pub?
